What do you find most interesting about Carter County?
Laurel Falls is a really cool place to visit. When we have out-of-town visitors, we'll take them to Ft. Watauga at Sycamore Shoals State Park. As a pastor, I like being part of an active downtown. My favorite local hangout is the Coffee Company.
- Louie O'Bourke, Elizabethton
I like the Coffee Company. This is the best place around. We have the most beautiful downtown area. My mother grew up near the Covered Bridge, and I love it. I have all the Covered Bridge paintings by Don Iverson.
- Debbie Odom, Elizabethton
I like watching Little League games at the parks, and the Boys & Girls Club is a good place to hang out. I like going to Watauga Lake, and I enjoy going to the Covered Bridge and watching the ducks in the water. The Veterans Walk of Honor downtown is also one of my favorite places.
- Lester Bailey Sr., Elizabethton
I love going camping at Roan Mountain State Park with my family. We enjoy cooking and sitting around the campfire and talking, playing music and singing.
- Linda Wiseman, Valley Forge
Our family likes to picnic at Watauga Lake. We enjoy the Fourth of July Boat Parade on the lake. We enjoy taking the church youth group camping at Roan Mountain State Park, and we also do youth retreats at Sugar Hollow Retreat in Elk Mills. Some of our favorite restaurants are Daisy Mae's Café in Pinecrest, the Water Wheel Café toward Roan Mountain and the City Market in Elizabethton.
